Saving the World one Dote at a Time.

What’s wrong with this world is that we have lost Context and Content. Bludgeoned and bombarded everyday with images, GIFs, tiktok videos, stories, reels, more videos and more stories, all of this without any meaningful sharing of ideas or thoughts. Like-minded bloggers, writers, educators, professionals, entrepreneurs, homemakers or any who have real context and content to express, come forth and Save your Wor(l)d.

…or just scroll down to learn more about what we are trying to do here.

What are Dotes?

To Dote is to be extremely or uncritically fond of something or someone. It could be anything that you are extremely passionate or attached about. Ideas, opinions, appreciations, reviews, piece of information, anything that can be expressed in words ; more importantly, in enough words!

Pour out your thoughts or feelings about any topic, anything or anyone in 10, 50, 100 or even 200 words, as you like it, and you would have Doted! Categorize it, Tag it, Add a picture/video and let the readers, fellow doters share theirs with you.

Blogs vs Dotes

the Inverted Triangle Approach
between Two Pigeons

The term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, “blog,” was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999. It’s not until five years later that Merriam-Webster declares the word their word of the year.

For years, millions of us have been blogging our hearts and minds out across the globe which has transformed the speed, accessibility & exchange of information and opinions since it began in 1997. The nature of blogging has also evolved from individually-driven blogs to Multi-author blogs and finally to microblogging sites like Twitter, etc. In whatever form, the practice of writing and reading to exchange ideas, must continue to evolve and survive the unintellectual barge of non-worded content, before it engulfs our wor(l)ds.

Dotes are just a refreshing new way to blog in this rapidly evolving technological society. It’s somewhere in between a Tweet and a Blog. Somewhere between a reactive comment and a well structured article. Somewhere between being casual and being obsessed. Your dote is about you loving your thoughts and feelings and letting it out into the world.
